Piping systems for "Volkshilfe" Vienna
Construction project with numerous challenges and high demands
The project comprises a modern office building that extends over three wings and three storeys and also includes a basement. With a total area of around 800 m², the building offers sufficient space for various office units and utilisation areas. It is both an existing building and a new building. Numerous defects were identified in the old building that urgently needed to be rectified. In addition, there was a clear requirement to equip both building units with sustainable heating and air conditioning technology and to fulfil the most modern requirements.
Initial situation
‘Despite the difficult initial situation with numerous structural damages, the project was realised efficiently thanks to modern technology and reliable partners. The combination of brine heat pumps and system separation in particular ensures a flexible, future-proof solution,’ says Dominik Gstettner from the installing company Gstettner Haustechnik GmbH.
The installation of a powerful 150 kW heat pump in the new building ensures efficient and environmentally friendly heating. The heat is distributed evenly via underfloor heating, which ensures a pleasant indoor climate and a high level of comfort. In addition, a VRF system (Variable Refrigerant Flow) is installed as a backup system to ensure reliable and flexible air conditioning. Condensing gas boilers are also available for the existing building and for any peak loads in the new building (there is a system separation between the old and new buildings). A comprehensive BMS control system controls the various energy generators. This combination of modern heating and air conditioning technology ensures that the office building is both energy-efficient and comfortable.
Specialist pipework systems
Two state-of-the-art pipework systems from Sanha were used for the extensive construction project in Vienna: NiroTherm® and SANHA®-Therm. These systems were chosen in particular due to their particularly easy workability and excellent quality.
Thanks to its corrosion-resistant stainless steel pipes and fittings, NiroTherm® made of 1.4301 stainless steel offers a durable and, above all, quickly realisable solution for the cooling technology (or basically all closed circuits) - there is no need for time-consuming protective coating of the pipes, including drying times, and the installation can be completed in a time-saving manner.
For the heating system, the construction team opted for SANHA®-Therm made of carbon steel. Thanks to its versatility and equally simple installation, the system also contributes to the rapid and cost-efficient realisation of the project.
Both series have the unique combipress® function: in addition to Push & Stay and ‘Unpressed Leakproof’, this means that they can be pressed up to and including 54 mm with SA, V and M original profiles (and up to 108 mm with SA and M profiles) - a clear advantage that eliminates confusion on the construction site and increases safety.
Realisation by an experienced specialist company
The project is being managed by Gstettner, an experienced installation company with decades of expertise. Gstettner offers comprehensive services in the areas of sanitation, heating, ventilation and cooling. This includes consulting, planning and execution of projects as well as bathroom refurbishment and the installation of various heating systems such as underfloor, wall and ceiling heating. The range of services also includes the modernisation of existing heating systems, the replacement of boilers and the installation of heat pumps and biomass systems. With its many years of experience and wide range of services, Gstettner ensures that all aspects of the construction project are realised professionally and efficiently.
