An impressive building complex was erected in the Bay of Algiers, which also shapes the cityscape: The mosque's prayer room is a columned hall with space for up to 35,000 people. In addition, there is a university complex, further training rooms and outdoor facilities as well as the 265m high minaret. The gross floor area is given as 374,000 m². KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten won the competition and was responsible for the implementation. The foundation stone was laid in 2011.
For this unusual project, we contributed in particular the piping system in the premium version - NiroSan®. This stainless steel system for drinking water consists of the material 1.4404 (316L). It contains at least 2.3 % molybdenum and has a lower carbon content than the conventional material 1.4401 (316). NiroSan® was therefore, the more convincing choice due to its significantly higher corrosion resistance.
We have also supplied pipes and fittings for other installations on this project, such as the heating system (here made of carbon steel from the SANHA®-Therm series).
